The Cologne Central Station (Hauptbahnhof Köln), photographed by Karl Hugo Schmölz in 1957, is a striking example of post-war modernist architecture in Germany. The building, originally constructed in the 19th century, underwent extensive reconstruction and modernization post-World War II, culminating in the mid-1950s.
