Parrot Chair
In Athens, Local Local designed the Parrot Chair for Sirigos in 2025, taking a compact seat from the maker’s archive as a starting point. The commission marked the Greek furniture company’s 101st anniversary.
Early telephone seats combined a chair with a small shelf for the telephone. Placed in hallways and living rooms, they gave people a place to sit while talking. In Greece, the type became known as the “gossip seat.”
Parrot keeps the original’s compact, boxy proportions but removes the telephone shelf. Its open frame is made from unvarnished maple, with a separate upholstered seat and back.
Traditional joinery holds the frame together without screws. The exposed joints remain visible at the arms and back, while the pale timber contrasts with the green upholstery.
Without a dedicated shelf, the chair works as a seat on its own. Local Local designed it to be used individually or arranged in small groups for conversation.
