Portable

Portable is a ground-floor shop for visitors exploring an island by bicycle as well as by car. It rents and sells only folding bikes, which suit the size of the island and fit easily in a car.

Yoga and other sports workshops are held from time to time, so a vertically movable hanger rack system lets the bikes be lifted into the ceiling and frees the whole floor for other uses.

The same racks carry clothes and other goods, and visitors can reach up, touch and look at whatever hangs from them. The shop opens through glass onto a covered forecourt, and its concrete shell and exposed services keep the interior plain.
